MOT AEDM course questions and answers:
The AE designated manager or Authorised Examiner Designated Manager (AEDM)is the person who manages the MOT testing in your business.
The AEDM can be either the business owner or employee if you have multiple sites, and this person can optionally also be the MOT tester, however, An AEDM must be a person who has an overall view of the entire MOT business. It must be a person who can authorise and effect change, rather than just report what is needed to those with the power to effect the change
You must nominate someone to be an AEDM. This would usually be an AE Principal or you may nominate a senior manager. In either case, it must be the person who exercises the most direct control and has direct responsibility for all MOT testing operations at all sites over the MOT testing operations.
The AEDM must have a Level 3 Award in MOT Test Centre Management or have attended a DVSA-run MOT Managers’ Course or Authorised Examiners’ course.
Authorised Examiner Designated Managers (AEDM) do not need any prior qualifications before being able to complete training to become an AEDM.
AEDM training is needed to be completed by a qualified instructor, as this person is ultimately responsible for the day-to-day MOT testing operation within the Vehicle Testing Station (VTS) or MOT Bay.
The AEDM course should be completed to help the AEDM to fully understand their responsibilities and role within the MOT Service and enable you to be qualified to run the MOT Bay or MOT testing station for your business.
This course has been developed in collaboration with the Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency DVSA and it provides students with the knowledge and skills required to manage MOT Vehicle Test Centres.
The AEDM course is a mandatory requirement for the MOT Station Authorised Examiner (AE) or AE Designated Manager (AEDM) or those who wish to become an AE or AEDM.
This course will be of interest to anyone wishing to set up an MOT testing Station, or who may already be MOT Tester and wish to advance their career further.
