Class 5 MOT Tester Course

Become a Class 5 MOT Tester by completing our Class 5 MOT tester course.

This course trains current Class 4 & 7 MOT testers to be able to test Class 5 private passenger vehicles, ambulances, motor caravans and dual-purpose vehicles.

For existing Class 4 and 7 testers, The Class 5 MOT Tester Course is a half-day session designed to give the testers the knowledge and skills to test Class 5 vehicles. This course delves into the items and areas specific to Class 5 vehicles, covering all aspects of the MOT test syllabus, including:

  • Lighting systems
  • Braking systems
  • Wheels and tyres
  • Interior
  • Bus-related items

You will be trained by the guidance of experienced ex-DVSA senior technical staff. You will be fully prepared for testing this extra class of vehicle.

You will then need to complete additional training specific to testing class 5 vehicles, take an online assessment and then undertake a DVSA Class 5 MOT demonstration test.

Class 5 MOT tester courses can take place via Zoom, classroom based or can optionally be run at a location of your choice.

What is Class 5 MOT Tester Training?

This Class 5 MOT Tester course trains MOT testers already qualified to complete Class 4 & 7 MOT tests, to be able to test Class 5 private passenger vehicles, ambulances, motor caravans and dual purpose vehicles.

This training course meets this DVSA requirement and prepares you for your DVSA practical assessment.

What else is required to be able to test Class 5 private passenger vehicles?

Following this training, you will then need to take an online assessment and then undertake a DVSA Class 5 MOT demonstration test.

Can I upgrade from Class 7 MOT tester to also MOT test Class 5 vehicles?

Most Class 7 MOT stations can easily upgrade to testing Class 5 vehicles with a DGW of up to 5000 kg.

How long is the Class 5 MOT Tester Training?

The course consists of a half day training session via Zoom with an expert MOT trainer.

Can I complete Class 5 MOT Tester Training at my workplace?

Yes, classes are usually run over Zoom, but can be arranged to be run at your workplace, or classroom-based at one of our training facilities.
