MOT Annual Assessment course questions and answers:

What is MOT CPD training?

The MOT annual training (or CPD Training and Assessment) has replaced the MOT refresher courses.

Each year all MOT Testers must now complete an annual MOT CPD assessment training, which consists of  3 hours of MOT training every year, followed by an annual MOT assessment exam at the end, which must be passed to retain your MOT tester status.

What is the MOT annual assessment?

The MOT annual assessment is a requirement for being a qualified MOT tester in the UK.

You will be assessed once per year to ensure that you are competent in your role as an MOT tester, and our annual MOT CPD training will get you prepared to pass this assessment each year.

What happens if I fail my annual MOT assessment?

If you fail your annual MOT assessment, then you will need to do the training and pass the annual assessment on the next year’s topics.

So for example, if you failed the 2021 to 2022 assessment you will then need to do the MOT annual assessment training and pass the 2022 to 2023 assessment.

You must stop carrying out MOT tests if you have not passed by the end of the training year and your MOT testing account will be suspended.

Once you have passed, you will need to request and pass an MOT demonstration test.

Once this is completed satisfactorily, then your account will then be unsuspended.

What is the format of MOT CPD training?

The MOT annual assessment training is usually completed as a half-day course to guide nominated MOT testers through their annual assessment.

The MOT annual assessment is personal training (not e-learning) and is often done virtually over Microsoft Teams or Zoom, but can optionally be run at a location of your choice.

What is the format of the annual MOT assessment?

You will need to take the assessment online, for example at home or whilst still at our training facility

The test is 30 multiple-choice questions and usually takes around 1 hour to complete.
