MOT Bay Questions – Not So Frequently Asked

As a leading supplier of MOT Bays in the UK, you would expect us to get some awkward questions, two came up this month that we felt worth sharing, in case you as a garage owner are in a similar one of these 2 situations.

When adding a director to an existing MOT business, will the garage have to replace its garage equipment with DVSA-connected MOT equipment?

No! If your company already has an MOT bay and is simply adding a new director to their company then they do not need to upgrade to connected equipment.

I am currently an Authorised Examiner (AE), I’m purchasing a new larger site that is also a current AE. If I take over the new MOT Bay, and transfer the business to the new garage and close the old MOT Bay how long do I have to replace or upgrade the garage equipment with DVSA-connected MOT machines?

You will have a 3-month grace period to get connected MOT equipment installed at the new station should you take it over.
